Juárez officials are asking El Pasoans for help in getting their devastated city back on its feet, officials of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce said.

Thousands of Juarenses have been evacuated from flooded areas, and hundreds of houses have been destroyed or severely damaged by last week's deluge. The state of Chihuahua has pledged emergency funding, but city officials have reached out to their northern neighbors for urgent help.

The Juarenses need bottled water, cleaning supplies (such as detergent, bleach, buckets, mops, shovels, brooms), nonperishable food, baby supplies (diapers, wipes, dry formula, clothing and blankets), first-aid supplies and medicine (aspirin, Tylenol, cough syrup), adult and children's clothing and shoes. and personal and feminine hygiene products.
