A Socorro, Texas, man was found shot to death early Tuesday in the latest in a recent string of killings in Juárez, Chihuahua state police said.

The death is among a recent rash of homicides, including the ambush killing of a Chihuahua state police commander on Sunday.

Chihuahua state police said the body of Heriberto Arruñada Rodriguez, who El Paso police said was named Jose Eriberto Arruñada, was found at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday on the driver's side of a 1988 Ford Crown Victoria parked on Violeta street in the Las Flores area.

Arruñada, of the 10000 block of Kendrick Circle in Socorro, had been shot in the side, state police said in a news release.

A motive for the shooting remained unknown. An investigation continued.
