News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

Arizona Agents Seize 499 Pounds of Marijuana

Monday, April 07, 2008

Yuma, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Sector seized a truck and 499 pounds of marijuana Saturday morning.

On April 5, 2008 at approximately 8 a.m. the Yuma Border Patrol Station was contacted by a private citizen regarding a vehicle being loaded with bundles of what they believed to be narcotics, on the north bank of the All-American Canal near Sidewinder Road, south of Felicity, Calif.

Agents responding to the area located a 2007 Ford F-250 pickup truck, disguised to resemble a Kiewit Construction Company vehicle, abandoned in a wash north of the canal. Near the All-American Canal south of the vehicle, agents located an abandoned inflatable raft which contained 20 bundles of marijuana, weighing 499 pounds. No subjects were located near the scene and are suspected to have absconded to Mexico due to the close proximity to the border.

The estimated value of the marijuana was $399,200.
