We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

Sheriff's audio on high speed chase

The pickup driver in a high-speed chase Tuesday on Interstate 10 was identified Wednesday by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as 29-year-old Bairon A. Ventura of Juárez. Ventura was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 pounds and with evading arrest with a vehicle. He also faces an injury to a child warrant out of Cameron County (Brownsville), Texas.

Deputies found more than 800 pounds of marijuana in the bed of the pickup driven by Ventura in a more than 20-mile chase, which ended near Yarbrough Drive.

Drug arrest: The man wearing a Mexican army uniform arrested Tuesday on a marijuana possession charge at the Paso del Norte Bridge was identified as 44-year-old Luis Mo rales Aguilar of Saltillo, Mexico, an El Paso County sheriff's spokesman said Wednesday.
