FROM STAFF REPORTS

April 11, 2007 - 11:23PM

A man was stopped in the 800 block of South 13th Avenue for equipment violations on the trailer he was towing, and police later reported finding 587 pounds of marijuana in that
trailer.

Manuel Andres Padilla, 34, of El Cajon, Calif., was arrested at 11:25 p.m. Monday for driving on a suspended license. When he and his passenger did not know the name of the man who owned the vehicle they were in and had conflicting stories of where they were driving from, police became suspicious and brought canines to search the vehicle, according to a Yuma Police Department report.
