2 tons of pot seized NW of Tucson
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents found 2 tons of marijuana last week inside a Northwest Side house they believe was being used as part of a larger drug-smuggling scheme.
After receiving a tip, agents arrived to a sprawling stucco home at 10100 N. Camino de Oeste, where they smelled a strong marijuana odor coming from inside, an ICE press release said. They found 170 bales of marijuana throughout the house that weighed close to 4,000 pounds, and a machine to wrap marijuana into bundles in one of the rooms.
Agents also seized two vehicles, a currency counter and numerous records and documents. The house was empty at the time the search warrant was executed, and no arrests were made.
