Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

Calderón vows 'new phase' in U.S.-Mexico relations

MERIDA, Mexico - Mexico's new president spoke emotionally about the heartache of emigration and pledged a "new phase" in U.S.-Mexico relations as he helped President Bush wrap up a five-nation tour of Latin America on Wednesday.

Both leaders said they wanted Mexico to take a bigger role in Latin American affairs, an important shift for a country that is economically strong but diplomatically timid.
