Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

Arellano's lawyers may put blame on brother

Defense lawyers for accused Tijuana drug cartel kingpin Francisco Javier Arellano Félix hinted at a defense in court yesterday: His brother Benjamín actually was running the drug organization from a Mexican prison.

The lawyers mentioned the theory while asking federal prosecutors to give them any documents that might help prove that in preparation for a trial in less than a year.

Javier Arellano took over as head of the murderous drug-running ring in 2002 after Benjamín was jailed and another brother, Ramón, was killed, prosecutors said in court papers filed last week.

Defense lawyers said they hope to prove that's not the case as they defend Javier from charges that could lead to the death penalty.
