News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. WASHINGTON - For the second straight year, the Bush administration is asking Congress for billions to hire new Border Patrol agents, install new fencing and technology along the border and build detention centers for illegal immigrants.

Under the budget President Bush proposed Monday, the money spent on border security and interior enforcement of immigration laws would total $13 billion, or about a third of the Department of Homeland Security's total discretionary expenses. That's about $3 billion more than the current year's budget contains for those programs.
