Jan 8, 2007

The use of spike strips early Monday morning helped Yuma Border Patrol agents stop two illegal immigrant smuggling vehicles and arrest 27 illegal immigrants, five of whom had criminal histories in the United States, the patrol said.

In processing at the Yuma Border Patrol station, record checks found that five of the illegal immigrants had prior convictions for offenses including assault, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, willful child cruelty, forgery and auto theft, the patrol said.
