A man arrested for allegedly crossing the border into El Paso from Mexico on Monday morning with a human fetus in a jar was expected to be charged today in court with a Class A misdemeanor, officials of the El Paso County district attorney's office said.

Fabricio Castillo Carrillo, 33, of Albuquerque, was traveling into El Paso across the Paso del Norte Bridge when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials discovered the fetus in a small jar under the back seat of the 1989 Ford Taurus he was driving.

"This guy might have a great excuse why he's doing this," said Renee Railey, spokeswoman for the district attorney's office. "You would wonder where someone gets something like that."
