El Paso Mayor John Cook is part of a delegation of border mayors who will meet Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff in Washington, D.C., this afternoon to discuss border security and possible locations for a border fence.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, together with U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, organized the meeting and released the list of attendees Tuesday. Cook was traveling to the nation's capital but left a written statement in which he said he was "grateful for face time with the Secretary."

Cook said he and the other mayors, who are members of the Texas Border Coalition, requested the meeting in October.

"At that time our most pressing concern was the 'Wall.' Unfortunately, since the passage of the Secure Fence Act, we have yet to have our questions answered on the most basic points," Cook wrote.
