TIJUANA – Mexican federal authorities believe $3.2 million found inside a plane in the Mexican border city of Mexicali belonged to a drug group headed by Joaquín Guzmán Loera.

The cash was found Aug. 5, and three people linked to the Cessna TU206-F plane are being questioned, according to a news release provided yesterday by the Mexican Attorney General's Office.

Although federal authorities didn't say where the plane was heading, an official with the Mexican Attorney General's Office in Tijuana, who declined to be named because of his agency's strict public comment policy, said the plane was returning to the Mexican state of Sinaloa.
