Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

U.S. may peg drug aid to Mexico on extraditions

MEXICO CITY – The United States wants to tie a $1.5 billion anti-drug aid package in part to Mexico's performance in extraditing suspects, a top State Department official said Wednesday.

The multiyear aid program – known as the Merida Initiative, after the Mexican city where President Bush and Mexico's Felipe Calderón first discussed the idea – has sparked fears south of the border that it could threaten the country's sovereignty.
