There were 304 homicides in Juárez in 2007, up from 243 in 2006, the attorney general of the state of Chihuahua said Wednesday.

Last year, homicides were down compared with 2005. The attorney general said that in 2007, police closed five of the 304 homicide cases and had suspects in 78 cases.

The last homicide of the year was apparently that of a man who was shot in the head on the front porch of his house on Oaxaca and Valerio Trujano streets.
