Federal agents this week seized more than 5 tons of marijuana in a raid at a Horizon City warehouse described as a "major stash house" for a Juárez drug cartel, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Friday.

ICE officials said the seizure of 10,907 pounds Wednesday was one of the largest in the El Paso area in recent years. Agents arrested four men and seized several vehicles, including tractors and trailers.

The marijuana was scheduled to be shipped to cities, such as Chicago and New York, where it has an estimated street value of $8 million, officials said.

"This is a significant seizure that dealt a strong blow to a major criminal enterprise," David F. Fry, acting special agent in charge of ICE investigations office in El Paso, stated in a news release.
