TIJUANA – Authorities yesterday found the bodies of five men who apparently were strangled and left near a dirt road in Tijuana.

Authorities said the slayings might have been the result of a feud between small-time drug traffickers.

Organized-crime groups involved in transporting drugs and people into the United States are known to use such killings to settle scores over turf battles and stolen goods.

Mexico also is confronting a growing local drug trade in which small-time traffickers, who use similar crime tactics, have carved out niches in various neighborhoods.
