Apr 2, 10:49 PM EDT

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- A suspected drug cartel lieutenant sought in the killings of two police officers has been arrested in the border city of Tijuana, authorities said Monday.

Victor Magno Escobar was among four men and two women detained during a raid Saturday that also uncovered a cache of weapons, the Public Safety Department said in a statement.

"He is considered one of the main operators of the Arellano Felix cartel," the statement said, referring to the Tijuana-based drug gang. "In this raid, federal agents also detained a gang of kidnappers and seized an arsenal of weapons."
