This is the year for the federal government to do something meaningful on immigration reform, and Democratic members of the state House of Representatives are urging them to get moving.

In letters sent Monday to all 10 members of Arizona's Congressional delegation, House Minority Leader Phil Lopes asks for "full attention" to federal laws that would secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Our state cannot wait any longer while Congress takes up other matters less urgent than the immigration problems along the delicate Arizona-Mexico border," Lopes, a Tucson Democrat, wrote.
