But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

CBP Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than $2.7 Million in Pot

Wellton, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents working southeast of Tacna, Ariz., discovered two abandoned vehicles containing nearly 3,500 pounds of marijuana Monday morning.

At 7 a.m., agents based in Wellton, Ariz. were patrolling the border 35 miles south of Tacna and noticed vehicle tracks leading from the international boundary into the Arizona desert. After following the tracks, agents spotted two vehicles that had become stuck in a ravine. While inspecting both vehicles, agents discovered bundles of marijuana inside.

After searching the area with the assistance of Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine aircraft, three suspects were located and taken into custody in connection with the two vehicles and marijuana.

A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, reported stolen, has been turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office. The narcotics, a Hummer and the two suspects were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
