Monica Ramos, the wife of one of the two U.S. Border Patrol agents who began serving prison sentences last week for shooting a drug smuggler in the buttocks, watched the State of the Union address Tuesday from the Capitol gallery as a guest of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif.

Ramos was invited by the congressman in an effort to urge the president to grant pardons for the two former agents. They have become a rallying cause for immigration reform advocates and conservative lawmakers who say the judge and the U.S. attorney in the case trumped up the charges.
