News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. CBP Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than 4,000 Pounds of Marijuana

Kingsville, Texas— On January 20, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents intercepted 4,013 pounds of marijuana concealed in a cargo of limes at the Sarita Border Patrol checkpoint. The contraband has an estimated value of more than $3.2 million.

The seizure occurred when agents assigned to the Sarita Border Patrol checkpoint observed a tractor-trailer enter the primary inspection area. While the primary agent performed an immigration check on the driver, a CBP Border Patrol canine team conducted a non-intrusive, free air sniff around the trailer. The canine alerted to the trailer and the driver was directed to the secondary inspection area for a closer inspection. A search of the trailer revealed 289 bundles of marijuana weighing 4,013 pounds stacked under the load of limes. The driver, a 47 year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested. The load of marijuana is worth $3,210,400.
