Smuggler robs, abandons four illegal immigrants

BY MARK RANDALL, SUN STAFF WRITER

A group of illegal immigrants crossing the border in the early morning hours was robbed by their smuggler and left behind in the desert in Yuma County on Thursday.

According to Yuma County Sheriff's Office Capt. Eben Bratcher, an unknown suspect smuggled four illegal aliens into the United States on foot Thursday morning.

When the group reached the area near County 19th Street and Avenue 2-1/2 E, the smuggler demanded the illegal aliens hand over all of their money.

"He robbed them of all the money they had on them, then took off," Bratcher said.
