BY JUANA M. GYEK, SUN STAFF WRITER

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Son. — Thousands of San Luis residents voted for mayor of this city and president of Mexico in a smooth and tranquil atmosphere.

Returns were not expected until late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Running candidates for the mayoral seat were Adriana Aceves of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Ruben Espino of the National Action Party (PAN) and Santos Gozález of Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD). All agreed that the way that the residents managed the elections was the most notable aspect.

Aceves expressed being satisfied with the work done during her campaign and with the high participation of the residents. Espino said the winner is Mexico because of the great voter turnout while Gozález said he is preparing a series of complaints that will be made public.
