Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

U.S. judge gives Arizona quick deadline to revamp programs for English learners

PHOENIX — A federal judge on today gave the state 15 days after the legislative session begins next month to finally comply with his order to properly fund English-language programs or face fines of $500,000 per day.

That came after attorney Tim Hogan said more than 80 percent of ELL students have failed to pass all three sections of the test required to get a diploma, versus about 26 percent statewide. Hogan told the judge it's not fair to penalize these students because the state has never properly funded English language programs.

GOP Congressman to Fox: 'Shut Up'

U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R.-Ariz.) said Thursday that Mexican President Vicente Fox should “shut up” about his opposition to a proposed U.S.-Mexico border fence.

Fox on Wednesday called the idea of a fence “disgraceful and shameful.”

Illegal immigration's toll: Cheap labor costs

The problems caused by immigrants in America could be reduced by a third if immigration laws simply were enforced.

Since 2000, this republic has experienced the highest number of immigrants -- legal and illegal -- in its history, according to the Center for Immigration Studies report "Immigrants at Mid-Decade: A Snapshot of America's Foreign-Born Population in 2005." In Pennsylvania since 2000, immigration increased 46.7 percent.
