Ballot measure has cops enforcing border laws
Published: 05.06.2008
Advocates for tougher border enforcement say the Legislature needs to act on a proposed ballot measure that would draw local and state police in
The measure would prohibit agencies from restricting the enforcement of federal immigration laws and withhold state funding for departments that refuse to end such policies. It also would expand a state trespassing law to make it illegal for an undocumented immigrant to enter
The proposal is awaiting a final vote in the state House.
