The U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission Working Group on Ports of Entry is meeting at the University of Texas at El Paso today and Wednesday to discuss the state of border crossings.

The group, made of 50 members, including officials from the U.S. State Department and Mexico's Foreign Ministry and border officials, could approve presidential permits for new ports of entry, said Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority board member Tony Payan. The officials are scheduled to hear from U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, El Paso Mayor John Cook and Juárez Mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz. The meeting is not open to the public.
