News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

8 entrants arrested amid protest at store

MESA — Eight illegal entrants were arrested during a protest outside of a Phoenix furniture store that had hired sheriff's deputies to keep day laborers away.

Protesters have been demonstrating for the past six Saturdays at Pruitt's furniture store in east Phoenix against the arrests of illegal entrants in the area. Maricopa County sheriff's deputies had arrested 24 illegal entrants in the area after stopping them for traffic violations.

The eight people arrested Saturday on suspicion of violating immigration laws were the first illegal entrants taken into custody during the actual protests.
