An October shooting allegedly between police officers is being investigated as a possible link to the slaying of a sergeant in a Juárez police anti-gang unit, police officials said

Sgt. Aldofo Rios Corral, 35, was found by a patrol officer at 6:10 a.m. Sunday in the passenger seat of his 2001 Grand Marquis stopped on a dirt road known as el camino del Zorro.

Rios, who was in uniform, was shot twice in the head, Chihuahua state investigators said. He had left work at 3:15 a.m. but stayed talking until about 4:30 a.m. with co-workers.

Juárez Public Safety Secretary Marco Antonio Torres Moreno, in a news release, said investigators were looking into an Oct. 21 vehicle-to-vehicle shooting involving Rios and two other officers.
