News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

What first caught the officers' attention was the rear of the Chevrolet Astro van.

The vehicle slung low as it darted from lane to lane on traffic-heavy Interstate 10. A temporary license plate added a second checkmark to the list.

The van fit several key indicators used by members of the state gang task force to identify automobiles bearing human cargo and drug loads across the international line with Mexico.

A group of law enforcement officers on Friday decided the van needed to pull over.

From there, things happened fast: coyote suspects, a van full of undocumented immigrants, 10 arrests. But first came the chase.
