News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. A new state law enforcement border task force has started operating in Sierra Vista.

It was formed to help border area law enforcement agencies deal with border-related and gang related crime.

The state Department of Public Safety's Arizona Border Strike Force was formed last month under orders from Governor Janet Napolitano and began operations on Jan. 26 and 27 in Sierra Vista, DPS said in a news statement.

The task force started after pleas for help from border area law enforcement agencies, the statement said.

The agencies had sought help combating gang activity, illegal immigrants, narcotic and stolen vehicle smuggling, the statement said.

The task force effort has been dubbed "Operation Full Court Press."
