News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. ICE arrests 60 illegal aliens during Operation Secure Streets 2007

Nearly two dozen individuals with DUI-related arrests placed in removal proceedings

Sixty immigration violators and violent criminals were arrested here by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention and removal officers during a three-day operation ending today.

The arrests were part of Operation Secure Streets, an ongoing ICE initiative primarily designed to safeguard the public by identifying, arresting, and placing in removal proceedings individuals who pose a threat to the community and who have no legal right to remain in the country. The primary targets of the operation were individuals with prior convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

“Many of those arrested selfishly and recklessly got behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated, putting their lives and the lives of the public at risk,” said Felicia Skinner, acting field office director for the Office of Detention and Removal in Atlanta. “By finding and removing these criminals, we are able to greatly enhance public safety, while restoring integrity to our nation's immigration system.”
