News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. Border agents seize pot load, arrest 2 men

ARIZONA DAILY STAR

Border Patrol agents seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana from a stolen car on Saturday and arrested its two occupants in San Miguel, a press release says.

Agents tried to stop the two men from Caborca, Mexico, who were driving a Chevrolet Tahoe north on Federal Route 19, near the U.S.-Mexican border, the Border Patrol release says.

When the men saw the agents, they turned around and drove south toward the border about 8 a.m., according to the release.

Officials tried to pierce the tires on the car, but were not able to stop the it. The men stopped shortly afterward in a wash and ran off. They were later arrested, the release says, and were awaiting charges.

The men carried 1,048 pounds of marijuana in the Chevrolet, which was reported stolen from Mesa, the release says. The car was released to the Tohono O'odham Police Department.
