We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. Putting National Guard soldiers on the border is not militarizing or closing the border, it's securing the border, a high-ranking officer told federal officials on Wednesday.

"We are not trying to stop immigration, we are trying to control the illegal aspects of it," said Lt. Gen. Steven H. Blum, Chief of the National Guard Bureau.

Blum made the comment while testifying at a U.S. House Armed Services Committee field hearing. Members of the committee were at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma to hear testimony about national security concerns along the U.S. border with Mexico.

"I think its very clear, now, that Yuma is the focus of the entire country because of the central position it takes with respect to this very important challenge," said Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.
