News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. Pot found near Somerton valued about $500,000

FROM STAFF REPORTS

More than half a million dollars of marijuana was found in an abandoned vehicle Saturday evening near Somerton.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office was called to the 15700 block of Rincon De Espana, which is about four miles east of Somerton, for a suspicious abandoned vehicle at 8:10 p.m. Deputies found a Hummer H2 that had its entire rear section filled with about 700 pounds of marijuana in packages.

YCSO said the Hummer was parked right next to the roadway and did not appear to have crashed or become stuck. No one was seen near the vehicle.

A registration check showed that the Hummer was stolen out of California. There were no keys inside, YCSO said.
