Community awaits Air Force One arrival

May 18, 2006

The Yuma community eagerly awaited President Bush's arrival this morning.

Readers hoping to catch a glimpse of the president called The Sun 's newsroom hoping to find out when the president would arrive and what local stops he would make. For security reasons, the president's Yuma schedule is not being released to the public.

Numerous American flags flew along 32nd Street, presumably in sight of the president as he arrives on Air Force One.

As early as 8 a.m. residents carrying cameras with long lenses were gathered in the Yuma County Fairgrounds parking lot, across from Yuma International Airport.
