News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

SAN YSIDRO – A young couple robbed Carl's Jr. Monday night, then sped away ahead of police and escaped into Mexico.

The two entered the restaurant on San Ysidro Boulevard about 8:30 p.m. and ordered food. One of them showed an employee the butt of a handgun and demanded money, San Diego police Sgt. Diane Wendell said.

A clerk gave the man, described as 18 to 20 years old, an undisclosed amount of money, which he tucked into his empty drink cup. The woman, who appeared to be in her 20s, drove off in a Nissan car while her accomplice ducked in the passenger seat, Wendell said.

An officer spotted the car and chased it south on Interstate 5 to the border crossing, where the robbers drove into Mexico.
