News From the Border

Providing the news from a different front but from a war that we must win as well! I recognize the poverty and desperate conditions that many Latinos live in. We, as the USA, have a responsibility to do as much as we can to reach out to aid and assist spiritually with the Gospel and naturally with training, technology and resources. But poverty gives no one the right to break the laws of another sovereign nation.

Thirty-eight illegal aliens were apprehended from a drop house in the Foothills Tuesday, said Yuma sector Border Patrol spokesman Michael Gramley.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and Border Patrol responded to a residence in the 13600 block of 48th Drive at 4:22 p.m. in an attempt to locate a felony warrant suspect, according to a YCSO release.

At the scene, a deputy from the YCSO methamphetamine unit saw a person at the rear of the residence. The person ran inside and attempted to lock officers out, according to YCSO.

Officers forced the door open and found illegal aliens inside. "Thirty-eight subjects were found, including numerous women and children," Gramley said.

All in the residence said they were Mexican nationals who were illegally in the United States, Gramley said. They were taken to the Yuma Border Patrol Station for processing.

The case is still under investigation, YCSO said.
